How Does an Informal Conference Work?
If an informal conference is requested, it must be held no more than 30 days after the date the Citation and Notification of Penalty (Citation) was received. If an informal conference cannot be held within 30 days of the date the Citation was received, UOSH recommends that you file a notice of contest with the Adjudication Division by sending an email to email@example.com. This will preserve your right to contest the Citation after the 30 days has expired.
If the informal conference is not held within 30 days of the date you received the Citation, and you have not filed a notice of contest with the Adjudication Division, the informal conference will be canceled, and the Citation will become a final order which cannot be modified by any court or agency.
How To Schedule an Informal Conference
Enter the delivery date of the Citation and Notification of Penalty.
If the conference is requested by the employer, affected employees or their representatives shall be afforded an opportunity to participate. Scheduling an informal conference does not stay the 30-day period for filing a notice of contest with the Adjudication Division.
During the informal conference, evidence which you believe would support a modification of the Citation, may be presented. Supporting documents should be provided to UOSH at the informal conference. If conditions warrant, an informal settlement agreement may be reached which will resolve this matter without litigation or formal contest. Any informal settlement agreement must be signed within 30 days of the date the Citation was received, or the offer to settle will be withdrawn and the Citation cannot be modified.
